The Nkawie Circuit Court has slapped a 15-year sentence on a 38-year -old farmer at Biemterete, a cottage near Mankranso in the Ahafo-Ano South District of the Ashanti Region for raping a 27-year old housewife.
Akwasi Kobi was convicted on his own plea.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vitus Napen told the court, presided over by Mr Justice Noble Nkrumah that the incident happened on the night of April 9, when the convict forced the door to the room of the victim opened.
He said the complainant who was sleeping with her two children managed to escape.
ASP Napen said Kobi chased her to a nearby cocoa farm, kicked her to the ground and raped her.
He said the convict later followed her to her room and again forcibly had sex with her in the presence of her bemused children.
She reported the case to the Unit Committee, who arrested Kobi and handed him over to the police.
