Ghana striker Prince Tagoe single-handedly rescued his German club Hoffenheim from the brink of defeat with both goals that help them to a 2-1 win away at Frankfurt on Saturday.
The 23-year-old came off the bench to inspire Hoffenheim’s fightback to success with his first two goals in the German top flight.
Pirmin Schwegler put Frankfurt ahead on 20 minutes, but Tagoe who came on in the 77th minute levelled three minutes later to keep their hopes alive.
The former Hearts of Oak forward, who was declared medically unfit to play by the club in August last year, then grabbed the winner two minutes from the end.
His goal sparked rapturous celebration from the travelling fans as the Ghanaian player has been their favourite since the club mistreated several months ago.
Tagoe has cemented his quality after doubts lingered over why some Hoffenheim officials wanted to oust him even though he joined them on a free transfer.
His form is a welcome boost for the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup in Germany as Ghana will rely on the forward for goals.
