The Saboba District Chief Executive, Mr. John Ali Adolf, has commended people in the area for fostering peace and stability.
He however asked the people to nip in the bud the land disputes that often occur during the farming season.
Mr. Adolf made the commendation when he addressed the first ordinary meeting of the district assembly at Saboba in the Northern Region.
He said the assembly had constructed a 40- bed children's ward for the Saboba Medical Centre at the cost of GH¢85,860.15 and a four- unit teacher accommodation at Nambiri valued at GH¢51,948.75.
A five unit of lockable stalls have also been provided at Wapuli market at the cost of GH¢22,813.67.
Mr. Adolf said in order to open up the district, spot improvement of roads were carried out on the three-kilometre Wapuli- Yankazia feeder road, the seven Kilometre-Wapuli- Nakpongni road and the Tinbain- Borgbain, 9.8 Kilometre stretch.
He said the assembly has received GH¢192,400.00 as its share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund for the fourth quarter of 2009.
The Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr. Joseph Yimpuri called on the people to retain experience members of the assembly whose term would end in September.
He asked heads of department of the assembly to discharge their constitutional mandate devoid of political affiliation.
