The defending champions of the Ghana Rugby Club Championship, Cosmos Buffaloes RFC, continued with their unbeaten run after a 34-15 victory over Idas Sports RFC on Saturday 12 December at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team demonstrated quality rugby play on the day despite the selling of 9 key players to other clubs in the past weeks.
Mr. Amuzuloh, Coach of Cosmos Buffaloes RFC, said the performance of the boys was beyond expectations.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Amuzu disclosed how the fantasy of holding the trophy this season became shuttered as most of the key players were sold to other clubs in order to gain funds for the club.
He said the team’s performance on the day has increased their enthusiasm to fight harder to retain the trophy by the end of the season.
“I’m very excited today because I wasn’t expecting my boys to play fabulously like this looking at what happened to the club in the past two weeks. I’m grateful to my boys for making me proud because initially I thought it’s impossible to retain the cup but with this performance I’m sure we can win the league again” he said.
Kids again had their training session between 9am and 10am with the ladies 7’s match between 10am and 10:30am followed by a boys 7’s match between 10:30am and 11am and a 2nd division men’s 7’s match between 11am and 11:30am.
In the adult 15’s matches Conquerors Sporting Club also won their match 80 to 6 against Accra Sharks RFC making it three wins in a row while Griffons RFC who traveled all the way from Cape Coast lost 14-3 to Dansoman Hurricanes RFC.
At this stage of the Ghana Rugby Club Championship Conquerors, Cosmos Buffaloes and Dansoman Hurricanes are all unbeaten after three matches. The top four on the log after having played three matches each are Conquerors and Cosmos Buffaloes with 15 points each followed by Dansoman Hurricanes with 13 points and Idas Sports with six points.
Next week will see the last matches for 2015 before the Rugby Championship will break to be continued in January 2016.
