Former Black Stars captain C. K Akunnor says Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac should be worried about the number of key players battling with injuries but insist the Serbian is right to give some of them as much time as possible to recover.
Rajevac included Michael Essien, John Mensah and Agymenag Badu who are all carrying injuries in his side and the man who captained Ghana at the 2000 Nations Cup says the fitness of those players should be paramount on the mind of the coach.
“Players like Stephen Appiah, John Mensah and Michael Essien have all had issues so it is something that should concern the coach because they are people he build his team around,” Akunnor said. “It is important that they are fully fit because there is no doubt if they are it will greatly boost the strength of the team."
"He will have the period when they are in camp to access their fitness but many coaches in the world will give Mensah and Essien all the time allowed before the squad deadline to get fit because they do make a difference in the team."
The Black Stars will gather in Paris on May 24, play a friendly on May 27 before traveling to Rotterdam and London for friendlies against Holland and Latvia.
Milovan Rajevac will name his final squad prior to that friendly against Holland on June 1.
