Ghana Premier League champions AshantiGold have set out to make the most of the extended pre-season to adequately prepare them for the CAF Champions League.
The Miners are scheduled to play Algerian outfit MO Bejaia in February with their opponents actively participating in the Algerian league.
The lack of competitive matches for Ashantigold is certainly a worry for Ashantigold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo and Ghanaians with fears their opponents could be a notch above them in terms of fitness and match rhythm.
However, Fianoo has devised strategies in the interim to make way for the delayed Ghana Premier League.
“We need to make sure that we quickly put our house in order so that we can have enough playing time,’ Fianoo told Joy Sports.
“We are looking for a tournament in Tanzania and hopefully another tournament in Nigeria that is going to feature champions in the sub region.”
“With a couple of matches, we should be ready to meet them.”
“They could play more matches that wouldn’t make us overwhelming underdogs. I have believe and faith in my team that we can stand the test of time.”
The first leg of the tie is scheduled to be played in Obuasi within the week of 12-14 February.
