The Ministry of Information has urged Ghanaians and foreigners resident in the country to come out boldly in the national colours in readiness for the World Cup. A statement signed by James Agyenim-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Information, and copied to GNA Sports has urged Chief Executives, Managing Directors and Heads of Departments to encourage and permit workers to wear their Black Stars replica jerseys to work every Friday effective May 21, 2010. "The Ministry of Information expects that all government ministries and agencies will fly the national flag high, while important locations like our airports and border posts will also be proudly draped in the national colours to welcome all visitors into Ghana. "Our cars, offices, homes and other locations must hoist the national flag and when the culture sips in, we believe that many motorists after the tournament will display the Ghana flag rather than flags of other nations in their cars." Mr Agyenim-Boateng said this is part of creating awareness for the Stars participation at the June 11 to July 11, FIFA World Cup 2010 championship in South Africa. "The little we can all do as Ghanaians is to wake up to the call and paint Ghana red, gold and green every Friday between now and the end of the World Cup. This certainly will be a major boost for the morale of our senior national football team." The Black Stars will play Serbia, Australia and Germany at the group phase of the World Cup. This is the second time the Black Stars have qualified for the biggest football tournament in the world after the 2006 edition in Germany. Source: GNA
