An innovative insurance programme, which provides pharmacy, retirement plans and business opportunities to clients would be launched on June 9.The health insurance programme is the initiative of Health Organisation for Wellness, Limited, a non-governmental organisation headed by Dr Aloysius Kwakumey.He told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday that Ghana is the first country in Africa to be part of the programme, which started in the US.The programme which targets the working class has 14 plans for beneficiaries to choose from.Premium for the plans range from GH¢15.00 to GH¢300.00 and allows contributors to choose their own physicians.The plans would include five per cent monthly referrals for those who bring on board new contributors, retirement dividends, free education forums for enrolled members, rehabilitation facilities, mobile emergency clinics and death benefit to beneficiaries.According to Dr Kwakumey, those who do not fall sick for three months would get 10 per cent of their contributions invested into a retirement plan that would cater for their health needs when they retire.Source: GNA
