The 2010 Ghana Universities Sports Association basketball competition for public universities takes centre stage from Saturday June 5th to Thursday June 10th 2010 at the main basketball court of the University of Ghana.
The event organized by Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Nestle Milo is expected to bring together basketball players, coaches and fans and will offer the platform for balance, revenge, dominance and character building.
All six universities have intensified preparations with their respective coaches trimming the rough edges ahead of the big showdown.
Both the men and their female counterparts will slug it out for the ultimate trophy, products from the sponsors and the cash prize.
Defending champions University of Education based in Winneba have already sent a strong statement to retain the title and sow a second seed of defeat in the backyard of the highly fancied University of Ghana who placed second last year.
The other hot contenders who have vowed to unseat the Winneba based University are the Kumasi based Kwame Nkrumah University of Science &Technology, the University for Development Studies, University of Mines and Technology and University of Cape Coast.
Fans from the various universities have all arrived in Accra and are eagerly awaiting the organization of this year’s tournament after last event earned rave reviews on various student campuses and the nation at large.
Players are expected to exhibited extraordinary basketball skills, stamina, agility and speed coupled with passion, glitz and glamour to make this year’s tourney an unforgettable one.
The GUSA basketball championship is powered by Nestle Milo, the energy food drink of future champions and supported by Voltic mineral water with production from Rite Multimedia –leaders in basketball development and promotion in Ghana.
