Football administrator Alhaji Fawaz Zawk fears Hearts of Oak could be demoted if management doesn’t ‘swallow its pride’ with respect to the recently-hired Japanese-American coach Kenichi Yatsuhachi.
He has stated that he will join the campaign of the club’s supporters calling for a change in the club.
The former Hearts board member is the latest to call on the current management to tap into the experience of past executives to address the club's flagging fortunes.
The Phobians' form in the past few years has worsened due to the current state of the club as they have gone seven seasons without a major silverware.
The 2000 CAF Champions League and 2004 CAF Confederations Cup winners have been hit with series of administrative and financial challenges in recent times. They finished 13th last season.
Ahead of the upcoming season the Phobians are yet to make marquee signings and on most occasions the club’s fans have expressed their dissatisfaction regarding how the club is being run. “Looking at the way things are going, you don’t need a rocket scientist to tell you Hearts are suffering,” Zawk said.
”I support the fans 100%, Kenichi is lucky I am not in Ghana. I would have lead the supporters to kick him out,” Zawk told Kumasi-based OTEC FM.
Currently led by board chairman Togbe Afede XIV, the Phobians still have trust in Japanese coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi that he can help bring the club back to winning ways.
