2009 Champions, The Democratic Republic of Congo began their bid for a second African Nations Championship (CHAN) title with a comfortable 3-0 win over Ethiopia in the opening match of Group B.
The Congolese had the better of the first half and were duly rewarded with a goal on the stroke of halftime with a Guy Lusadisu strike.
The Leopards made sure of victory quickly after the break with Heritier Luvumbu heading home the second goal on 46 minutes. Meschack Elia put the icing on the cake nine minutes to give DR Congo a commanding start to the tournament.
This humiliating defeat leaves the Ethopians in search of their first every point at the CHAN finals after losing all three games in South Africa two years ago.

In the second Group B game on Sunday, Cameroon beat Angola 1-0 despite playing with ten man halfway through the second half.
The Indomitable Lions took the lead after 23 minutes when Yazid Atouba scored from a well-struck free-kick.
Despite the pressure put on them by the Angolans, the Cameroonians stood tall to claim all three points with the only blemish being the red card to Joseph Ngwem after he received a second yellow card.
