Vice President John Mahama on Monday called on Ghanaians to sustain their support and goodwill for the Ghana Black Stars to enable the team to win the ongoing 2010 World tournament in South Africa.
He praised Ghanaians for demonstrating high enthusiasm and support for the Ghana Black Stars even before the start of the tournament.
Vice President Mahama made the call when Infiniti Communications Limited called on the him to autography a giant football, at the Osu Castle in Accra, as part of an initiative of the company to have thousands of signatures signed on the giant football.
The Vice President commended the company's initiative (giant football), which is expected to be send around the country for autographing.
Vice President Mahama expressed joy that he was first to autograph the giant football after which the collated numbers of signatures would be sent to South Africa for the Black Star to known the level of love and support they wield back home.
He said that the level of appreciation for the Black Stars would propel the players to die for their country as they had always done.
The Vice President congratulated the Black Stars for defeating Serbia 1- 0 in their first match on Sunday, bringing joy to Ghanaians.
He appealed to the players to remain resolute, focused, discipline and tactful to enable them to lift the flag of Ghana high.
