Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey believes his former side can compete for the league under manager Keniche Yatsuhashi.
Don Bortey watched his former team beat Nigeria Premier League side Ifeanyi Ubah 2-0 with goals coming from new sensation Samudeen Ibrahim and Thomas Abbey.
The Phobians followed that up with a 4-2 victory over a merged team comprising of the 2000 Champions League and 2004 Confederations Cup winning squad.
After these two games, the former Ghana youth international believes Kenichi and his squad can battle for honours in the upcoming league.
“From what l saw, l think this team can win the league title for all Phobians in the coming season to end our seven years trophy drought,” he told Adom Sports
"Anything is possible, and that's why we watch football. You can't rule them out as champions. This team could beat everyone from now until the end of the season.”
He then urged the supporters of the club to rally behind the team even as the club goes through a difficult period.
"Hearts are going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, it's difficult to put your finger on what the problems are." Bortey said
"When teams aren't getting results, it's usually a collection of things. The players are young, the squad is strong and I think it'll be turned around with the fans solidly behind them.”
“They can be champions if the supporters can throw their support behind them like they did for us when we were playing the club.”
Don Bortey last played for Aduana in the Ghana Premier League.
