President of Techiman City Charles Kwadwo Ntim has confirmed they will appeal the ruling which demoted the club to the third tier of Ghana's league on the grounds that they never bribed Wa Africa United.
The Ghana Football Association Ethics Committee found Techiman City FC and Wa African United guilty of bribery and match fixing after investigations into their Division one Match day 22 game played at the Damongo Park in July 2015.
What this means is that Techiman City who qualified in that zone to play in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League will not be part of the league by virtue of the ruling.
But Mr. Ntim is not giving up and according to him, he will appeal the ethics committee ruling.
“I am really surprised at the ethics committee ruling and the only thing to do now is to appeal,” he told Joy Sports
“The ethics committee is not the final judicial body so we will take the matter to the appeals committee.”
But the chief executive officer of Wa African United, Nana Gyamerah Kwabena Yiakwa II who made the allegations against Techiman City is satisfied with the ruling.
“I am not surprised at the ruling because I was expecting it, one thing we should know is that one cannot do wrong and go free,” he said
“According to our football rules the receiver and the giver are all guilty so if we are demoted so be it, we accept the ruling.”
