The Constitutional Review Commission has held a public forum to solicit views from the public on the revision of the 1992 constitution.
In a statement read by the Commissioner of the Commission and Paramount Chief of Kumbungu Traditional Area, Naa Alhaji Iddrisu, said Ghana over the years had been touted as a torchbearer in good governance.
Naa Iddrisu said a review of the constitution represented good housekeeping for the nation and an attempt by Ghanaians to fashion out home grown solutions to governance problems.
He said the Commission had so far received several submissions and called on the citizenry to turn in more submissions to enable it achieve its mandate.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Bawku, Mr Musah Abdulai, appealed to the people to use the opportunity to articulate their views in constructing a better constitution for the country.
The chief of Binduri, Naba Akolbila Akapwine, suggested that the constitution should make provision for chiefs to be allowed to go into active politics.
Mr Abugre Mohammed suggested that the presidential term of office should be increased from four to five years and that the Chief Justice should not be appointed by the president.
