Former Kotoko captain Joseph Hendricks has urged Ashantigold fans to back their team for the entire duration of their first leg CAF Champions League qualifier in Obuasi.
The Miners, Ghana’s sole representative in the tournament, kick start their campaign against Algeria cup champions MO Bejaia in a tricky first leg test.
Hendricks, who featured in many continental games for the Porcupine Warriors, believes massive support from the fans could serve as the foundation for a good victory on Sunday.
“It gets to a point in the game when the player’s strength in the game relies on the fans,” Hendricks told Adom FM Sports
“The happiness of the players on the field solely depends on the fans.”
“I will plead with the Ashgold fans that this game is not for only the players and management. They will also play a vital role.”
“The Aboakese crest on the jersey will be worn by both the fans and players. This means it is a unified battle,” Hendricks added
“So the players must give their all on the pitch within the 90 minutes while the fans also cheer their side throughout this period.”
Hendricks missed the decisive penalty that clinched Hearts of Oak the maiden CAF Confederation Cup title.
