Two students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been stabbed after they were attacked in two separate incidents last Sunday.
The first incident occurred around the Great Hall, near a residential block of the University Hall, also known as Katanga Hall.
The victim, who has disclosed the identity of his attackers to the security agencies, said he was stabbed in the back by students affiliated to University Hall.
The second suffered a slash in the palm at the Unity Hall.
The two incidents come at a time when students are complaining of porous security on campus.
The two victims are currently responding to treatments at the hospital.
Decades old rivalry between halls
It is believed that the attacks are linked to the decades’ old rivalry between University Hall, and Unity Hall, both all-males residential facilities.
Investigation by security agencies
The two incidents are being investigated by a collaborative effort between the National Security, Ghana Police Service, and KNUST security.
Students have since been calling on the school authority to help beef up security on campus.
