A committee has been set up to investigate reports by some police officers in Kumasi that they were brutalized by a group of soldiers last month.Members of the committee are from the two security agencies as well as the judiciary. They are to establish the cause of the alleged attack, identify those involved and recommend measures to pre-empt a recurrence. The committee is chaired by a retired justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Amonoo-Monnie.He told Joy News he will work to ensure that justice prevails.“No body is in the dock, there are no accused persons before us. Similarly the military as an institution, as part of the arm of government, as a constitutional body charged with security matters, the military is also not under investigation."“The matters that have arisen are matters relating to individual members of these two organisations," he said. The attack is said to have been instigated by the arrest and detention of a military officer who was found riding a motor bike without documentation.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
