Accra Hearts of Oak and Kpando Heart of Lions shared honours in the opening match of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top Four tournament when they settled to a two all game at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Sunday.
It was Hearts who took an early lead in the seventh minute through newly signed Osei Pele, capitalized on defensive blunder to slot home the opener but the lead was cut short ten minutes later when Lions
Gilbert Fiamenyo beat a host of defenders on the run before delivering a spectacular shot for the equalizer.
The two sides hanged on their respective goals till the close of the first half and resumed with much determination to win the day.
With the urge to out do each other, action swung from each side of the pitch to the other in a balanced game as the 4 strikers were desperate in search for the winner, but the striking force of Fiamenyo, Gladson Awako and Bright Nsiah of Lions blew off some of the scoring opportunities that came their way.
On the part of Hearts, it was the pair of Uriel Asante and Pele who should have given them at least two more goal to seal a deal but they were wasteful as they also squandered several chances.
Pele, however, in the 75th minute made amends when he capitalized on another defensive blunder to slot in what was thought to be the match winner.
As the game was coasting to an end, Lions bounced back later with a perfect header from Fiamenyo, who was well spotted to connect home a well laid cross from Ofosu Amoah to bring the scores at par and to deny Hearts a sweet victory.
With just ten minutes left for the rest of the game to end, the two sides became more desperate in search of the three maximum points but their efforts was not enough and were thus compelled to share the points at stake.
Fiamenyo was adjudged the best player of the match.
