Black Queens star Florence Okoe has told Joy Sports women football in Ghana can only get better if it is developed alongside the men’s game.
Florence Okoe believes Ghana can overcome recent disappointments by junior and senior national women’s teams if attention is paid to the sport with improved commitment and infrastructure.
Her comments come just days after the Black Princesses were eliminated from the group stages of the Under 20 World Cup won by host Germany.
The Germany based player spoke to Enerst Koranteng on Joy Sports Link.
“We are far behind but I think with little effort we can catch up,” she said.
According to her, clubs in Europe have women’s team in addition which they manage together and suggested a similar move is replicated in the country.
She also called on the FA to improve on infrastructure at the Prampram Centre for Soccer Excellence which she said is in deplorable state during raining seasons.
Meanwhile, the under 17 women national team the Black Maidens will be at the FIFA world cup in Trinidad and Tobago in September this year.
They have bagan intensive preparation and are expected to go on a training tour abroad.
Coach Abraham Allotey is excited that would improve his team’s chances at the games.
