The Premier League Board Chairman Mr. Yaw Abra–Appiah has emphasized that the PLB will not extend the registration date for players who will feature for the premier clubs this season.
He was speaking in relation to a request by some clubs urging the PLB to extend the registration date since some have changed ownership and some are still recruiting players for this season.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s sports morning show on Wednesday, Mr. Abra-Appiah stated that the registration of players will end at 5pm Wednesday and the board is not in any position to extend the date.
“Initially, registration of players should have ended two weeks ago but because the league which was scheduled to kick off 22nd August, 2010 was changed due to GHALCA’s request to extend the date to 5th September 2010, to pave way for the Top 4 competition.”
According to him, the PLB so far has finished registering 14 premier teams and believes the two left will finish with theirs by the 5pm deadline.
The Board will not consider any team that fails to meet the deadline, he maintained, saying that the switch of ownership from Kessben to Medeama should not affect the registration in any way.
He added that the law entreats the PLB to publish the list of all registered players for the 16 clubs five days after closure.
