American musician, Akon, says a huge communication gap between African leaders and their people has made it difficult for the people to understand the policies of their governments.
In an interview with Adom News Editor Afia Pokua, the rapper and songwriter said the gap does not allow Africans to question policies made by the leaders.
Akon, real name, Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, said though Africans generally are one of the most outspoken people in the world, the gap between the people and the leaders forces most citizens to guess what their leaders are doing.
Akon has signed on as a partner with Brooklyn-based Zeno Live Company that creates an online platform of radio broadcast for Africans in the Diaspora to connect, engage, interact and enjoy local broadcast programmes though far from home.
He praised Zeno live for the opportunity to create jobs for talented young people on the continent.
The U.S-based Senegalese encouraged talented Africans in various broadcasting fields to take advantage of the platform to create their own online radio content and create opportunities for themselves and others to make a living and their voices heard.
Founder and president of Zeno live, Baruch Herzfeld was excited about his new partnership with Akon, adding that Africa remains a virgin market with opportunities.
He said he was honoured to be part of a generation that will contribute to the accelerated growth of Africa adding that Zeno radio platform already has become the reference platform for Africans and Caribbean in the Diaspora to keep in touch with home and their culture.
He says he has deep respect for Africa and the potential of these partnerships creating jobs for its budding youth who he describes as the future of the continent.
Mr. Herzfeld is expected in Ghana later this year to meet with other partners with similar interest and talents.
