The Under-20 sides of clubs in the Premier League clubs will be engaged in a reserves league after Congress, the highest decision making body of the Ghana Football Association, Wednesday ratified the proposal for the upcoming season at its extra-ordinary congress.
However the reserves league aimed at promoting youth development will be halved into the Northern and Southern zones at least for the first year due to financial considerations.
International relations officer of Asante Kotoko Kwame Baah Nuako has hailed the introduction of the reserves league and played down comments that it will be unsustainable without sponsorship.
Meanwhile Central Regional RFA Chairman Martin Doe has lashed out at those who accused the ten regional FA Chairmen of receiving bribes to push for an expansion of the premier league clubs from 16 to 20 prior to yesterday’s GFA extra-ordinary congress.
The regional FA’s came under scrutiny after CEO of BA Stars, Takyi Arhin insinuated that the proposal was only aimed at re-instating clubs which were relegated last season.
The proposed expansion of premier league teams did not materialize as proponents of the proposal called for its withdrawal for further considerations.
According to Martin Doe whoever has evidence of the bribery accusations should go to the law court.
