The Ghana Hockey Association is planning to invest in grassroots development of the sport in the country after the credible performance of the national U-17 hockey team at the maiden Youth Olympics in Singapore.
After losing 6-3 to Belgium at the weekend, Ghana needs a win against hosts Singapore to claim bronze in the competition.
The team lost its first two matches against Pakistan and Australia.
President of the Ghana Hockey Association, Oko Nikoi Dzani who is with the team in Singapore is keen on restructuring the sport at the youth level.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s youth triple jumper Atsu Nyamadi must beat off stern competition from other budding world talents when they participate in the athletics event at the maiden Youth Olympics in Singapore today.
Nyamadi secured a place in the final with a leap of 14.93m which ranks him 23rd at the competition.
On the girl's event, 1000 meters runner Rita Leonarb missed out on the final when she finished 17th out of 33 participants.
