With just a few days to the start of the Glo Premier League, only three sides have picked up their unique player registration cards. The new small-sized plastic cards replaces the A5 paper-sized forms previously used for verification before matches that has existed over the past decades.Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold are the only clubs to have completed the process for their regular and reserve sides with 13 other sides yet to secure their cards. The new cards bare the player's name and signature, national ID number, registration number, contract duration, photograph and is certified by the club's medical doctor. But Premier League Board chairman Welbeck Abra-Appiah says the delay by the other clubs is unacceptable."This is a simple process that should have been long completed. It is very important for clubs to take this process very serious as a last minute rush could bring problems."In the event of a team failing to produce this cards before a match, any opposing team could refuse them the use of a player because that's the only means of verification," he said. The 2010/11 Glo Premier League kicks off on Sunday at eight match centres nationwide.Source: Ghanafa.org
