Ghana’s young tennis prodigy hopes to break into the best 10 in Africa as the ongoing ITF U-18 ranking tournament in Benin enters its third round Wednesday.
Jeff Bagerbaseh told Joy Sports he knows very little about his competitors but believes he will go far.
“There are some new faces who I have never seen them before so I don’t know how they will play but for me I think I will go far. I can make it to the semis and then the final,” he said.
Jeff Bagerbaseh who beat Nigeria’s Belloe Okpareson, 6-1, 6-3 is currently rated 676 on the ITF junior rankings and looks ahead to tougher competition.
“I want to be among the best ten in Africa,” he said
Ghana’s other representatives have already improved their chances of gaining rankings with the international body.
Pascal Ziyab and Stacey Bulley all recorded two-straight-set victories in singles matches played yesterday.
Meanwhile Enoch Godi who lost his game yesterday still has a chance of making it into the ranking zone, because he will be playing some doubles tie later today.
