Remember the Boom J7, which a lot of mobile users fell effortlessly in love with. The Boom J8 is a successor to the Boom J7 and also an upgrade of our favorite Boom device, which was released in the 2nd quarter of 2015.
TECNO Boom J8 Review: Specifications, Features & More
The TECNO Boom J8 comes with TECNO’s new customized User Interface called the HiOS, making the device one of the fastest phones out there in terms of performance. It is beautiful and satisfying to hold as much thought was put into the design of the device.
So what makes this device amazing?
Design
Anyone who takes a look at the device will suffer from phone envy. It spots a 7.35mm with a 3.5mm frame. It is one of the slimmest 5.5”inch display smartphones out there. You need to hold the device to truly appreciate what TECNO created.
For a near Phablet, the one hand balance of TECNO Boom J8 is brilliant! The ease and flexibility in handling that the device gives users is something uncommon in most 5.5 inch smartphones. The device is said to have undergone 172 different product processes from design to assemble which is incredibly solid.
Superlative Audio Performance

The device is perfect for audiophiles. The BOOM J8 brings the next level surround technology to the smartphone. It is a crafty combination of award-winning waves technology tailored into its BOOM Maxx app and the amplifier quality of its BOOM headphone.
Let’s talk about the BOOM headphone for a minute, a highly fashion-centric top-range headset is refreshingly different. It has a stylish finishing, premium leather folding and fitting sound cavity, nothing quite like it yet.
HiOS effect: Fluid and faster UI
We all love faster response time for apps and features on our smartphones. That is what the HiOS brings to TECNO BOOM J8, fluidity and speed. Let me put this in perspective: it only takes 0.3sec to launch and get BOOM camera lenses into focus - crazy! The HiOS runs 200% times faster than most smartphones and not only that, it gives users freedom to arrange and customize their android experience.
Camera
The BOOM J8 spots a 13MP back/ 5.0MP Front AF, geo-tagging dual cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) technology for capturing clear and great images.
The Front camera- 5.0 MP, each 1.6µm large pixel ensures 1.5X more light is captured compared to other smartphones. It also comes with front LED flash.
The Back camera - This 13 MP camera flaunts super large F2.0 aperture; soaking in more light with blue glass that filters idle light. If you like your shoots taken while in motion, BOOM J8 has you covered with fast tracking PDAF; focus on moving objects in the blink of an eye - no motion blurs! You can set your camera in Panoramic mode which is another feature of the device.
Battery
With the HiOS, the BOOM J8 offers a unique power saving technology, which means your device can go full swing for three straight days non-stop before the juice runs out. This is great for a device with 3000mAh battery capacity. On standby mood, the BOOM J8 can give you as much as seven (7) days of sleep mode.
Matching specs with the price at ¢540, the TECNO BOOM J8 is a good investment.
