Inspired by their victory over Brazil, Ghana would be looking for another positive result in the decisive group game today to aid their qualification to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The final day matches in a balanced Group D pits the Black Maidens against Ireland while Brazil takes on Canada. All four teams are level on three points.
A place in the last eight is certainly up for grabs and all sides would be battling for their spots.
Ghana have had their confidence on the up since their win against Brazil after an opening loss to Canada. But the final group clash against the Irish at the Dwight Yorke Stadium presents coach Abraham Allotey with a different challenge.
Coach Allotey believes his side have been lifted following their win over Brazil and are determined to continue with their run of form when they meet the Irish.
"I’m naturally very happy with my team. But the best is still to come and we’ll do everything possible to prove it. Against the Republic of Ireland, we’ll have no choice other than to win if we want to continue this adventure. They’re a very good team, but so are Ghana," the Black Maidens coach said.
The permutations looks very interesting as a win sends any side through to the last eight, a loss means a first round exit while draws would make things complicated in the group.
