Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has extended his stay with Italian side Udinese, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The 21-year-old signed a three-year extension to his existing contract with the Serie A club.
This means the enterprising Ghanaian midfielder is tied to the club until 2015 with a massive increase in his wages.
Rival Serie A sides Inter Milan and Fiorentina as well as English side Arsenal were interested in signing the mercurial enforcer.
But Udinese’s valuation of the player fell way below the offer made by the three clubs.
Asamoah’s new Udinese deal ends immediate hopes of him leaving the club soon but his agent insists staying with the club will enhance his career.
“Asamoah has renewed his contract with Udinese until 2015,” his agent Claudio Vagheggi said.
“He is happy and convinced of the choice he has made. He is also convinced that Udine is the right environment for him to continue to grow.
“We had several deals in the summer, but the market is closed now, the league has just started so he will concentrate on playing here.”
Asamoah, who is a key player for Ghana’s national team, joined Udinese from local Ghanaian club Liberty Professional.
