A student of the Okuapeman Senior High School sustained injuries after fire gutted a boys' dormitory of the Akuffo house on Sunday, May 8.
The injured is currently on admission at the Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapim in the Eastern Region, according to Akuapim North Municipal Chief Executive, George Opare Addo.

Students had gathered for church service at the Assembly Hall of the school when the fire started, the MP told Joy News.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be known, It is believed to have been caused by an electrical appliance that was left on by a student in the dormitory.
The dormitory which houses about 50 students was seriously destroyed by the fire. Several other properties of the students were destroyed.

The wooden windows of the dormitory were blackened and charred from where the flames had licked at them.

It took the intervention of the fire service to douse the fire. Mr Opare-Addo told Joy News the fire team has begun investigating the cause of the fire.
He said the displaced students will temporarily be housed in dormitories of final year students who completed few weeks ago.
