Twenty-eight-year-old suspect Kadril Ibrahim, the man who managed to escape after he and his accomplices, Martin Koranteng Agyir and Kelvin Nii Otu, engaged the police in a fierce gun battle following an attempt to rob a forex bureau operator at Dansoman, has been arrested.
His two accomplices however died.
Kadril Ibrahim, who got shot during the gun battle, was arrested by the police at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.
He was said to have told doctors attending to him that he sustained the gunshot injuries after engaging in a fierce fight with a certain white man.
Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Rose Atinga Bio, indicated that the police received information on Thursday, September 16, 2010, that Kadril Ibrahim aka iron was on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
She noted that police proceeded to the Korle-Bu Hospital, where he was arrested on his hospital bed, adding "when he was initially interrogated at his hospital bed, he concocted a story that a white man shot him when they had a fight."
DCOP Rose Atinga Bio maintained that Kadril Ibrahim later confessed to the police of his attempted robbery at Dansoman, which claimed the lives of his accomplices.
She said further investigations also revealed that in 2007, Kadril Ibrahim and Martin Koranteng Agyir attacked one Sampson Amadi with a cutlass at Christian Village in Achimota and stole his Toyota saloon car with registration number GR 6467W.
It would be recalled that Kadril Ibrahim, Martin Koranteng Agyir and Kelvin Nii Otu were shot by the police when they attempted to rob a forex bureau worker at his house at Dansoman.
Suspect Kadril Ibrahim however managed to escape with his gunshot wounds but the two died.
The two who died were later identified as ex-convicts who were released under the recent Justice for All Programme.
