A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old boy in Wa by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.
The suspect who is a junior high school (JHS) 1 student was arrested after the victim reported the incident to his aunt.
Narrating happenings, head of Upper West Regional DOVVSU, ASP Benjamin Mensah said the victim was on his way home from school when he met the suspect.
The suspect invited the victim to join him to undertake an activity.
“They went to an obscure place and asked the victim to lie down face-down and removed his shorts and inserted his penis into his anus”, ASP Mensah said.
After he was done, he added, the victim “asked him [ the victim] to go home warning he should not tell anybody”.
However, when the victim got home, he reported the matter to the aunt who later disclosed to the victim's mother.
ASP Mensah said the victim’s mother organized some men in her area to arrest the suspect. He was later handed to the police.
Police report indicates the suspect has admitted having “canal knowledge of the victim”.
Commenting on the way forward, ASP Mensah said: “The suspect is here with us but for now as the age stands we will release him on bail till the investigation is done”.
Meanwhile, a report from the regional hospital where the victim is on admission affirms there is an “inflammation of the anus”.
