Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister, on Friday donated a number of relief items on behalf of the government to victims of the September 18 motor accident in Tamale.
The items included; 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of maize, 100 bags of beans, 100 cartons of cooking oil, 100 cartons of soap, 100 plastic plates, 100 plastic cups and 50 mats.
Mr Mabengba expressed government’s condolence to the bereaved families and the injured. Six of the victims have been airlifted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The items were presented to the Regent of Zoggu, Naa Alhassan Abdulai on behalf of the families of the victims at Zoggu in the Savelugu/Nanton District.
The minister urged the people to regard the tragic incident as an act of God and move on with their lives.
Naa Abdulai commended the government for the support it has extended to the victims so far.
The fatal accident, which occurred at Zagyuri, close to the Kamina Barracks, claimed 21 lives on the spot, while seven persons died later at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle has been remanded in prison custody by a Tamale circuit court.
