The Ghana Football Association has mandated Assistant Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah to handle the team for next month’s 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan.
The Black Stars play the Sudanese on October 10 in the second Group I game in Accra after getting the campaign off to a perfect start, winning 3-0 away to Swaziland at the Somhlolo Stadium in Lobamba.
Ace Sports Journalist Kwabena Yeboah is one of many Ghanaians who believe the young coach can deliver with the necessary support.
He told Joy Sports’s Ernest Koranteng that support for the coach was particularly crucial because when Milovan Rajevac came to Ghana, his first game was a complete disaster, yet with support, the Serbian found his foot and chalked some massive successes with the team.
Meanwhile Kwesi Appiah has invited a 20-man squad for the game with two uncapped local players, Emmanuel Clottey and Seth Owusu who are playing their first game at home after the 2010 World Cup finals.
Defender Seth Owusu told Joy Sports he will prove his worth if given the opportunity.
