Sixteen police chiefs have been transferred with immediate effect as the IGP makes his third round of changes since he was appointed seven months ago.

The transfer of the Accra Region Police Commander, COP George Akuffo Dampare who was appointed six months ago has been viewed with surprise.

He is heading to the Ghana Police Command and Staff College at Winneba and hands over to ACP Timothy Donga Yoosa.

DCOP Yaagy Akuribah who was the Central Regional Police Commander has been transferred to the Western Region as the new Commander.

DCOP David Nenyi Ampah Bennin of the Police Intelligence and Professional Standard Bureau is swapping places with DCOP Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro II who was Director General in charge of Special Duties.

The IGP has also appointed a replacement for the Eastern regional police commander DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni who passed away March 14,2016. Volta Regional commander DCOP Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae moves to the Eastern region.

The changes come less than seven months to the general elections in November. This is the third wave of transfers.

The IGP made as many as 29 changes at the top hierarchy of the service within 20 days of his appointment on November 9, 2015.

In the second and biggest wave, the transfer of at least 61 senior police officers was announced in January 2016.

The IGP John Kudalor is averaging approximately one shake-up every two months.
