The 18 Ghanaian foreign based players invited for the Black Stars Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan are expected to arrive starting today.
The Stars gave a good account of themselves in their various league matches in Europe.
Joy Sports’ Dennis Mirpuri monitored the players and rounded up their performances in the various leagues in Europe.
Matthew Amoah and Quincy Owusu Abeyie who were uninvited for the Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan found their scoring form in their league matches.
Matthew Amoah scored the opener on 30 minutes in NAC Breda’s 2-0 win over Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie and in Spain, a 51st minute goal from Quincy Owusu Abeyie ensured that visiting Malaga snatched a 1-1 draw at Almeria.
Defender Isaac Vorsah played full 90 minutes while Prince Tagoe came on as a 68th minute substitute in TSG Hoffenheim’s 4-2 defeat to Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga. Hans Adu Sarpei was left on the bench in Shalke 04’s 2-1 defeat to FC Nuremberg.
In France, midfielder Andre Dede Ayew played 90 minutes for Olympique Marseille in their 1-1 draw with St. Etienne while his younger brother Jordan was an unused substitute.
Midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was left on the bench while Kwadwo Asamoah lasted 85 minutes in Udinese’s 1-0 win over Casena in the Italian Serie A. Kevin Prince Boateng was a 77th minute substitute in AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Parma.
Samuel Inkoom played 84 minutes for FC Basel in their 1-1 draw with FC Sion in the Swiss Super Liga.
In England, John Mensah was left on the bench while striker Asamoah Gyan was introduced in the 84th minute in Sunderland’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United. John Paintsil sat on the bench in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.
In Spain, Jonathan Mensah played the entire duration of the game for Granada in their 2-1 win over FC Girona. In Norway, Anthony Annan helped Rosenborg in their 3-1 win over Valerenga. Bernard Yao Kumordzi helped Panionios to beat Kavala 2-1 in the Greek Super Liga and in Serbia, Lee Addy played the entire duration of the game for Red Star Belgrade in their 2-0 win over Metalac.
