Former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, is expected to be at Chorkor on Saturday to launch the StepApp Mother and Child Care Centre.
The project, aimed at curbing the high rate of teenage pregnancy, lack of parental care and high rate of social vices among the youth in the area, will be preceded by the StepApp Challenge Cup match.
The Challenge Cup, to be played at the Indadfa Park, will attract kids from communities, including Chorkor, Mamprobi, Korle Gonno and Korle Bu to compete for the Captain's Cup.
The Cesena midfielder will also use the occasion to unveil some programmes that the StepApp team and PurePersona have been working on, as well as to celebrate some achievements of the Foundation.
Other important projects such as a community library, which is being stocked with books and computers, is to help strengthen Appiah's message on the relevance of education for all kids and to equip them with basic computer skills.
In a brief message before the launch, the ace Ghanaian midfielder pledged his commitment to the course of the project, noting that "I am very happy and proud of the difference the StepApp Foundation is making in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
"It's not easy but I am dedicated to this and will make sure I keep providing for the less fortunate for as long as I can. Those who have benefited already will no doubt testify to the fact that we have made a little difference in their lives and I hope the mothers, kids and the people of Chorkor will enjoy the new facilities we are about to provide.
"The Mother and Child Centre is a good initiative which will benefit the backbone of our nation - our lovely mothers and kids.
"The library and computers to be added later will be good for the education of our kids and that fills me with a lot of pleasure and satisfaction. I will like to say a massive thanks to the StepApp team and PurePersona, event organisers, for making the dreams of my people come true", he concluded.
