The Black Stars Thursday evening excited football fans in Kumasi as they pumped in as many as 10 goals and conceded two in a training match against Ashanti regional division two side, State Envoys.
The two-part match officiated by the Stars goalkeeper’s trainer, Edward Ansah, saw Berekum Chelsea’s Emmanuel Clottey romp home to a hat-trick in his first appearance for the national side, followed by Jordan Ayew, also making a debut appearance getting a brace.
Other scorers for the Black Stars were lead strikers Asamoah Gyan with a brace and Prince Tagoe (1) with midfielders Kwadwo Asamoah (1) and Anthony Annan (1) following with an output the team and indeed Ghanaians would love to repeat on Sunday when they host their Sudanese counterparts in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
State Envoys scored a goal in either half as against the Stars’ five-goals each half in a game that saw stand-in coach, Kwasi Appiah rejig his first half team for the second.
The Sudanese are expected in Ghana Thursday night, while the Black Stars round off preparations on Friday.
