Long jumper Ignatius Gaisah and heptathlete Magaret Simpson, are expected to revive Ghana’s medal the ongoing Commonwealth Games in India when they begin competing today.
Gaisah won gold in the same event at the last edition in Melbourne in 2006 while Magaret won Bronze at the 2002 edition in Manchester.
But hopes in sprint were dashed yesterday when sprinter Aziz Zakari failed to make it to the final of the men’s 100 metre final. Aziz finished fifth in the semi finals after making a time of 10.32 seconds.
In boxing, light flyweight Duke Micah advanced past the first stage after defeating South Africa’s Lebogang Pilane. Ghana is yet to win a medal after five days of competition.
