Caretaker coach of the Black Stars Kwasi Appiah has cautioned the players against complacency if they are to meet expectations as World Cup quarter-finalists.
Kwasi Appiah led the team to a disappointing goalless draw against Sudan in Kumasi on Sunday in an African Cup qualifier and believes the team could have done better.
The ex Black Stars captain is likely to be overlooked by the FA in the search for a new manager despite calls for him to be named Milovan’s successor.
He said despite the feat achieved at the last World Cup finals in South Africa, the players must remember that they still have a lot to learn.
The coach stressed the need for all the players to recognize that the performance in South Africa imposes a huge burden on them to maintain if not raise the standards.
Defender John Painstil concurred with Akwesi Appiah and admitted in an earlier interview that the team ought to be cautious.
He said the team generally underperformed.
Midfielder Bernard Kumordzi who played a decent game in his first start for the Black Stars in three years is excited at the opportunity.
Kumordzi donated football kits to his former school Lashibi Klagon with the expectations the school will churn out more stars.
