Greater Accra recorded the highest inflation of 15.06 percent for the month of September.
The region also recorded the highest inflation in the prices of foodstuffs. The food component of the inflation index for September was over 17 percent compared to a national average of about 6 percent.
The relatively high food inflation for Greater Accra contrasts sharply with the trend across the country.
Head of Economic Statistics at the Ghana Statistical Service told Joy Business, the situation could be blamed on the cost of transporting food items from the farming areas to the capital.
The Northern region also recorded the highest non-food inflation for September even though the Greater Accra region followed in a close third.
