Sunday, October 17 marks exactly 91 days and the finale for the 5th season of the Big Brother Africa reality show dubbed Big Brother All Stars.
This season’s show was an All Star-studded event and an ardent follower could not forget the drama, twists and turns and the surprises the 14 Housemates with the masterpiece administration by Big Brother their ‘Boss’, brought to the African screens.
The 14-Housemates; Sammi from Ghana, Uti from Nigeria, Sheila from Kenya, Lerato from South Africa, Tatiana from Angola, Code from Malawi and Jen from Mozambique.
The rest, Hannington from Uganda, Munya from Zimbabwe, Kaone from Botswana, Meryl from Namibia, Paloma from Zambia, Yacob from Ethiopia and Mwisho from Tanzania never left a dull moment on our screens.
Not new to the game, the Housemates were having a second shot at glory after failing in their previous attempts.
Up and downs
The death of Uti’s father, the ill-health of Ghana’s representative, Sammi, thus his abrupt exit from the show after the introduction of the Big Brother Barn and Hannington’s disqualification after his fight with Lerato in the Barn marked some of the down moments.
Yocob also voluntarily decided to quite as he found himself "outside" of the game.
One memorable moment that will live forever in the minds of viewers is the record-setting engagement by Mwisho and Meryl. They are by far the only Housemates to have an in-House engagement as contestants in the seven-year history of the show.
Road to the finale
After several eviction shows, the secret Big Brother Barn, disqualifications, Lerato, Uti, Munya, Sheila and Mwisho are the five Housemates standing tall and only an inch away from the grand prize of US$200,000.
The luckiest among them is Munya who has come up for eviction and survived on more occasions than the rest. This, many say, will make him the ultimate winner come Sunday.
The finale
The finale itself Sunday is another star-studded affair; led by South Africa’s DJ Black Coffee who recently broke the world’s deejaying record after spending 60 hours behind the decks.
Other stars rocking the stage at the finale night include Nigeria’s 2Face Idibia, MI, Wyre and Maye Hunta.
