Scores of people on Saturday petitioned the National Chief Imam, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, about a land deal gone bad involving a respected Islamic leader.
The religious leader has been identified as Mallam Baami who heads the Council of Ulamah for Guidance and Counseling centre.
Petitioners have accused Mallam Baami of refusing to refund monies paid him for land which they have not received.
The petitioners want the Chief Imam to call Mallam Baami to order.
“Every day he has a new story that is why we want to see if he can return our money because four years now, we haven’t seen anything. So we have come to see Chief Imam,” one of victims claiming to have been defrauded told Joy News reporters.

According to the victims in 2001 and 2002 the respected Muslim cleric used Accra-based Maraba 99. 3 FM to lure people to his land deals.
Being a respected religious leader, the victims said they gave Mallam Baami the money in hopes of getting lands at Ashaladza, in the Greater Accra Region, and its environs.
Meanwhile, the Ulamah for Guidance and Counseling centre says they are working to refund monies to those who have not received their lands.
The centre has directed that victims can visit the centre on Monday for amicable settlement of their grievances.
