Operators in the tourism industry from Ghana will later today compete for honours with other players from the sub-region at the maiden West African Tourism and Hospitality Awards.
The awards are aimed at rewarding players who have exhibited excellence and creativity in various areas and how they have used tourism to promote economic development.
Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee of the awards, Bella Ahu, said “now that Ghana is an oil [producing] nation, we really want to promote high standards in the hospitality industry.”
She said organizers of the awards will be looking to honour the best Chief Executive Officer in the hotel industry, the best restaurant, the best eatery amongst others.
