The coach of Ghana's Black Queens, E. K Edusei has fashioned out his best 21 players to meet the Confederation of African Football [CAF) deadline for submission of teams as the team fine-tunes its preparations in Germany.
Coach Edusei who was faced with a race against time to meet the submission deadline of Thursday, October 21 kept faith with former captain, Ajoa Bayor though the gifted midfielder is yet to practice with her colleagues.
The former Africa's best player who ply her trade in Germany is scheduled to join the team on Thursday as the Queens commence a final brush up to their weeks of preparations.
Coach Edusei stroke a good balance between experience and youthful enthusiasm in selecting trusted players like goalkeeper Memunatu Sulemana, Aminatu Ibrahim and Florence Okoe.
The Coach walks into the South Africa challenge with three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders and four strikers in search of the African Women Championship (AWC] title that has proven elusive for the perennial favourites.
Ghana are pitted in Group B alongside defending Champions, Equatorial Guinea, Algeria and Camaroon in the two week biannual fiesta that qualifies the two finalists to the next FIFA World Cup billed for Germany in 2011.
Meanwhile the four players currently training with the team in Germany who have been left out of the 21 member team are Mary Neequaye, Sabina Mensah, Fatima Adjei and Worsila Iddrisu.
The selected 21 players are:
Goalkeepers: Memunatu Selemana, Gladys Quansah and Leila Mohammed.
Defenders: Yaa Avoe, Sakina Abdul Mumin, Ama Saabi, Mary Barko, Patience Kpobi, Aminatu Ibrahim and Veronica Ashitey.
Midfielders: Akua Sika, Portia Boakye, Doris Nettey, Florence Okoe, Safia Mohammed, Liticia Zikpi and Ajoa Bayor.
Strikers: Agnes Aduako, Nancy Coleman, Diana Ankomah and Grace Asare.
