An Associate Pastor of the Lorenze Wolf congregation of the West Volta Presbytery, Reverend Dzandu Heiidor, has challenged Christians to examine their lives and identify the kinds of sins they commit to enable them to pray for forgiveness.
He mentioned some of the sins Christians committed daily as adultery, stealing from work places, and pilfering, which did not auger well for Christians.
Rev Dzandu was speaking on the topic: "Rejoice over the repentant sinner," at a thanksgiving service to mark the second Biennial Rally celebration of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Christian Youth Builders (CYB), Tema Zone of the West Volta Presbytery.
He noted that Christians would need to eschew those things, adding that 'though God did not entertain bad behaviour, He preferred to bring sinners close to Himself because of his kindness to mankind, to save them from perishing."
Reverend Dzandu called on Christians to appreciate this kindness and close the chapter on the commission of sins.
The theme for the celebration was: "Striving for Newness in Christ - a challenge for all."
Reverend Dzandu appealed to the youth to lead the crusade of Godliness and to bring their peers into the fold of change where they would direct their strength and energies to the work of Christ.
The celebration of the Tema Zone CYB of the Lorenze Wolf Evangelical Presbyterian Church was marked with activities including bible quiz, clean-ups, blood donation and sporting activities.
The Zone Secretary of the CYB, Mr Michael Asempa, called on the church to equip the youth with employable skills to reduce unemployment and poverty among them.
He said the society had acquired land to put up a resource centre to train people in employable skills such as dress making, catering, block-laying and engineering.
Mr Asempa said sourcing for sufficient funds was a major challenge to the attainment of their dream of establishing a skills training centre for the youth in the church.
He appealed to patrons of the CYB, benevolent societies and non-governmental organisations to extend a helping hand to the CYB to enable it to complete the resource centre.
Mr Jimmy Fuga, who chaired the programme, commended the members of the CYB for establishing a resource centre to train the unemployed youth in the church.
He called on the church to get involved and make the project a reality because its success would benefit the entire congregation and youth as a whole. The three-day event brought together seven youth groups from the E.P. Church in the West Volta Presbytery.
He also appealed to patrons, benevolent organisations and non-governmental organisations to support the CYB to enable them to complete the project.
