The Black Stars’ midfield anchors performance, though typically efficient, was rendered pointless given the 3-0 drubbing dished out to the Norwegian champions by their overwhelmingly superior Spanish opponents. The result, the first for the European Super-Cup winners in Group B-moved them off the bottom of the table and into third, a point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and level with second place Aris Saloniki of Greece. Rosenburg lie at the bottom of Group B, following the defeat. The two sides will meet for the return leg in Norway in two weeks. The match of the week in Europe was undoubtedly the Champions League clash between illustrious giants Real Madrid and AC Milan - winners of a combined total of 16 European titles.
