The Brong Ahafo region branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress has ordered the removal of all posters of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings on billboards in the region.
According to Deputy Regional Secretary, Dennis Ofori-Twumasi, several landlords have threatened legal action against the NDC in the region if it does not remove the posters which have been posted by some unknown persons.
Some NDC party footsoldiers who want Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to contest President Mills in the party’s primary to the 2012 election early this week began posting posters across the country generating concerns that the NDC might be the cause of its own downfall in 2012.
Spokesperson for Mrs Rawlings Kofi Adams has ruled out any link between her and the group.
Party General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia has challenged the former First Lady who is Vice Chairperson for the NDC, to officially state her position on the matter but she is yet to respond.
But the B/A Deputy Regional Secretary, Mr. Dennis Ofori Twumasi Yeboah has told Asempa News he is personally leading party officers to remove the posters on walls in the region.
He said several homeowners are threatening to sue the party in the region for the posters that have been pasted on their builders. He said they were not bothered about the posters on billboards and other approved places, however the party will not risk any court action once any homeowner protests.
Twumasi Yeboah called on the sponsors of the posters to own up to take responsibility for their action.
