Calm has reportedly returned to Buipe after two feuding chieftaincy factions last night exchanged gunfire.
Police in the Northern region town are pointing accusing fingers at one of the factions who is said to have started the gunfight.
The exchange began after one of the factions accused the area’s District Chief Executive (DCE) of aligning with their rival because he had lifted a ban on drumming a day ahead of a festival.
The DCE however denies supporting any of the factions.
The Northern Regional Police PRO Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh told Joy News no one was shot during yesterday’s disturbances.
He said investigations have commenced into the exchanges, promising all those found culpable will be severely dealt with.
