A Twitter account purporting to be from former Argentina coach Diego Maradona has posted a message that shows no tears over the death of Paul the ‘psychic’ octopus.
Paul gained worldwide fame during the 2010 World Cup finals in which he correctly predicted the winner of Germany’s seven matches in South Africa and was also correct in his prediction of the Final between Spain and Netherlands.
Germany defeated Argentina 4-0 in the quarter-finals, which effectively ended Maradona’s tenure as the coach of the South American giants, and ‘El Diego’ has now expressed his delight at the demise of Paul.
“I am happy your psychic octopus is gone; it’s your fault we lost the World Cup,” the account named Diego Maradona tweeted on Tuesday.
However, it remains unclear as to whether or not the account truly belongs to Diego.
Paul died of natural causes on Tuesday.
